Just a reminder that we start our indoor nets for 2010 on Wednesday 6th January. Please encourage any friends, colleagues and current Club members to attend. With a great pre season we should get off to a super start to the new season.
I look forward to seeing a good number of you there.

I only received positive responses from 4 members, so have decided against going ahead with this idea.

Fundraising opportunity - urgent response required
« Result #4 on Dec 16, 2009, 10:59pm »

I was contacted today by a company that have given us a funraising opportunity. I need your feedback to let me know if you feel we could take them up on the offer. However I need to know your responses by Thursday evening.
They have offered the Club 50 grandstand tickets for Huntingdon Racecourse for Sunday 7th March 2010. These are £15 tickets, which would be sent to us as soon as we give the go ahead. We then have to pay £155 (plus £4.08 for P&P) for these tickets after a month.
Obviously every ticket we sell over £160 would be money for the Club. Therefore if we could sell all of the 50 tickets between us the Club members and friends we could make a maximum of £590 for the Club.
We could of course sell the tickets at £10 each and still make £340.
We don't do much fundraising and this would be a good way of keeping our match fees down. Could you sell some tickets? What do you think?

It would be great to have a slightly bigger ball, then maybe the fielders could catch them and a ball that kept it's shine would be great if all the bowlers looked after them. How much would it affect the match fees?

Personally speaking i dont remember there being an issue for either batsmen or bowler last season...if maybe the balls could be slightly bigger so us batsmen could see them better!

Please note there is likely to be an increase in match fees, especially if the more expensive ball is used.
From the comments I have received so far, the majority say we should use the more expensive ball, although I have not had any feedback from the 2nd XI regulars, who always seem to want to keep the match fees down.

Don't worry about the attachment

To all Member Clubs:
I am pleased to inform you that Cricket Stick has just recently agreed continue their sponsorship of the Association.
With a number of clubs last season, showing concern regarding the quality of cricket balls being used, which I fully understand as the Senior League clubs paid £4 per ball less than in 2008.

Cricket Stick has now offered us the choice of either:
The Bellingham Smith Super Test (the one used this year) at £9.50 inc. VAT
or
The Bellingham Smith Recorder Supreme at £12.50 inc. VAT

When the responses are collated, the majority will decide which ball is to be used. It can be a different ball for the Senior League, to that used in the Junior League. But before making your decision purely based on cost, remember the Junior League ball may have to last for 80 overs.
Could you please let me know which ball you would prefer?
The Council has decided that only the ball decided on will be permitted to be used in Senior League matches next season. Therefore all Senior League clubs will be ordered 18, if you require any extra, along with quantities of those required for the Junior League, as the rule, these are mandatory only for use in Junior League Divisions 1,2 and 3. But other teams, of clubs may use them.

THESE QUANTITIES ARE REQUIRED BY 3rd DECEMBER 2009

Any club with teams in Junior League, Divisions 1, 2 and 3 failing to respond will be ordered 12 per team.

Finally, may I remind you that Dukes is not an option.
As they have again stated, they do not get involved in any “sponsorship deals”. So if Dukes we’re ever considered, you the clubs would need to fund the £1500 in lost sponsorship!

Chairman
